화장품에 사용되는 오일은 에몰리언트제로 피부에 유분막을 형성하여 각질층의 수분발산을 억제하는 성질을 가지고 있습니다. 화장품에 사용되는 오일은 크게 천연물로 추출한 천연오일과 화학적으로 만든 합성오일이 있습니다.
그 중 천연오일에 속하는 식물성 오일에 대해서 알아보겠습니다.
식물성 오일이란 식물의 씨나 과육에서 추출한 오일을 말합니다. 비누나 화장품을 제조할 때 또는 오일을 블랜딩하는데 있어서 가장 기본적인 것이 베이스오일입니다. 아로마테라피에서 에센셜오일을 사용함에 있어 에센셜 오일을 첨가하여 사용한다는 의미에서 캐리어오일이라고도 합니다. 신체를 마사지할 때 식물성 오일을 사용하면 이 또한 마사지오일이라 할 수 있습니다.
오일?
상온 약 25도에서 액상의 성질을 가지고 있으며,
물에 용해되지않는 기름을 말합니다.
탄화수소류 - 석유, 석탄에서 나오는 연료유 또는 광물질유를 말하며 대부분 고분자의 탄화수소입니다.
정유 - 저분자의 탄화수소류(알코올, 케톤, 페놀, 알데하이드, 옥사이드)를 말하며 향기를 가진 휘발성 오일입니다.
지방유 - 비휘발성 오일로 대부분 중성지방 형태를 이루고 있습니다. 올리브유, 참기름, 옥수수유 등이 있습니다.
종류 - 스윗아몬드, 살구씨, 아보카도 등 많지만 3가지만 정리하도록 하겠습니다.
스윗아몬드 오일
맛이 단 것과 쓴 것으로 2가지가 있습니다.
아로마테라미, 마사지, 스킨케어, 비누제조에서 가장 많이 사용하는 것으로 질감이 미세하여 피부에 쉽게 스며들어 피부를 부드럽게 하는 기능이 있습니다. 또한 트러블을 완화시키기 때문에 모든 피부타입에 사용할 수 있습니다. 비누를 만들때 스윗아몬드 오일을 첨가하게 되면 거품이 풍부해집니다. 유연작용이 좋기때문에 마사지 오일로 사용이 가능합니다.
살구씨 오일
불포화지방산과 비타민 A, E가 풍부하고 피부를 진정시키는 작용을 합니다. 보습기능이 있고 주름을 개선하는데 효과가 있습니다. 트리글리세리드 성분이 풍부하고 포화지방산은 적은것이 특징이며 함유되어 있는 토코페놀이 노화피부나 민감성 타입에 좋은 효과를 줍니다. 유연성이 좋고 사용감이 가벼워 미네랄 오일이라고도 칭합니다.
아보카도 오일
아보카도는 과일의 과육에서 약 30% 정도 얻을 수 있으며 비타민 A, D, 레시틴, 마그네슘 등을 함유하고 있어 영양분이 풍부합니다. 트리글리세리드, 프로비타민 A, 비타민 A, B복합체, E, 피토스테롤 등이 함유되어 있습니다. 기저귀 발진, 아토피성 피부염, 건조, 노화 피부에 좋은 효과를 가지고 있는데 특히 영양이 부족한 피부나 노화피부에는 치료 목적으로 사용되고 있습니다.

알코올은 히드록실기 성분을 가지는 화학물질로 R-OH로 표기되면 R의 탄소수에 따라 적으면 저급, 많으면 고급으로 분류됩니다.
화장품에 사용되는 알코올은 에탄올, 이스프로필 알코올, 글리세린, 프로필렌 글리콜, 솔비톨, 세팅알코올이 있습니다.
하나하나 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.
에탄올은 곡류, 당의 발효에 의해 추출되는 것입니다. 무색투명의 휘발성 액체로 물과 오일에 용해됩니다. 피부에 도포되었을 때 휘발성이 있어 화장품에 사용하면 피부에 청량감을 주고, 모공을 수축하여 수렴작용을 합니다. 농도가 약 70% 내외일 때 살균, 소독작용의 효과가 좋습니다.
이스프로필 알코올은 항박테리아 작용에 뛰어나다고 합니다. 글리세린은 글리세롤이라고도하며, 보습력이 좋습니다. 크림이나 로션의 퍼짐성 개선에 사용되며 많은 용량 사용 시 자극이 되거나 여드름을 유발할 수 있습니다.
프로필렌 글리콘은 흡습성은 있으나 휘발성이 없고, 열과 일광에 안정하나 가연성이 있으며 끓는 점은 약 185~189도 입니다. 글리세린과 비교했을때 용해력이 우수하며 곰팡이 번식을 방지하며 발효되지 않는 특징이 있습니다.
솔비톨은 포도당을 환원하여 제조하는 것으로 D-sorbitol, D-Glucitol이라고 불리는 6가지 당알콜입니다. 백색의 작은 알 모양으로 상쾌한 청량감과 천연의 감미를 가지고 있어 식품첨가물로도 사용됩니다. 화장품에서는 보습제로 사용되며 습윤조정효과가 좋으며 보향성 우수합니다.
세틸알코올, 라우릴 알코올 등의 고급알코올은 탄소수가 많아 지용성으로써 유성원료로 사용됩니다. 피부 유연제와 유화안정보조제로 사용됩니다.

화장품원료는 그 화장품을 형성하고 성분에 따라, 또는 피부의 활성을 도와주는 다양한 작용에 따라 성분의 원료가 표시됩니다. 화장품원료는 수천 종류에 달하여 보통 하나의 화장품에 적게는 10종류에서 많게는 50종류 이상의 원료가 배합되기 합니다.
그러나 저는 피부에 자극이 없는 천연화장품을 만드는 부분을 다루는 것이므로 원료들에 대해서도 가급적이면 천연에 가까운 성분을 가진 것들로 포스팅해보겠습니다.
그 중 첫번째는 천연화장품의 기본베이스로 활용되는 정제수와 플로럴 워터입니다.
정제수
화장품원료 중 가장 많이 함유되어 있는 것으로 물과 같은 것입니다. 물으 ㄴ화장수, 로션, 크림 등 각종 화장품을 제조하는데 있어서 가장 많은 양을 사용하는 원료입니다. 또한 용매로서 뛰어난 물질이며 피부를 부드럽고 촉촉하게 해주는 기능을 합니다. 그러나 각종 세균에 오염된 물은 제품의 불안정성을 초래하므로 정제하여 사용하는 것입니다.
물의 정제법은 화장품회사에 제조에 필요한 물을 직접 정제해서 사용하는데 이온교환법과 자외선램프 방법으로 분류됩니다.
이온교환법 - 이온교환수지를 관에 채운 다음 이온교환관에 물을 통과시키는 방법으로 금속이온과 음이온을 제거하고 센물을 단물로 변화시킵니다.
자외선램프 - 물에 자외선을 쪼여 세균을 살균이나 소독시키는 것입니다. 천연화장품에서 사용할 수 있는 정제수는 약국에서 저렴한 가격에 구입할 수 있으며 이외에도 에센셜 오일의 부신물인 플로럴 워터도 수상 베이스로 사용할 수 있습니다.
플로럴 워터
아로마 에센셜 오일을 수증기 증류법을 통하여 추출할 때 나오는 부신물로서, 1L에 0.005~0.02ml정도의 아주 적은 양의 에센셜이 분산되어 있습니다. 증류된 플로럴 워터는 에센셜 오일에 해당하는 유사한 성분을 가지고 있으며 피부에 직접 사용할 수 있는 물질입니다.
천연화장품의 스킨이나, 로션, 크림에 주로 사용할 수 있으며 싱글 플로럴 워터하나로도 바디미스트나 각종 화장수로도 이용이 가능합니다. 수증기 증류법으로 추출된 에센셜 오일에 따라 많은 종류의 플로럴 워터가 있지만, 최근에는 천연 스킨로션, 에프쉐이브 로션으로서의 사용이 급증하여 플로럴 워터만을 얻기 위해서 증류하기도 합니다.
대표적인 것은 로즈워터, 라벤더워터, 티트리워터, 네롤리워터, 위치헤이즐워터, 로즈마리워터, 카모마일 워터가 있습니다.
각 워터의 특징은 다음과 같습니다.
로즈워터 - 부드럽고 우아한 향이 특징이며 민감성 피부에 효과가 좋은데 수렴작용과 피지 분비를 억제하고 모공을 수축하여 잔주름을 예방합니다. 지성피부에도 효과가 있는데 여름철에는 모든 피부 타입에 사용할 수 있습니다.
라벤더워터 - 뷰티, 미용서비스 분야에서 가장 인기가 많은 것으로 상쾌하고 향이 부드럽습니다. 모든 피부타입에 좋으며 보습과 진정, 여드름과 습진에 효과적입니다.
티트리 워터- 대표적인 항균작용과 피부 트러블에 좋은 성분입니다.
네롤리워터 - 피부 재생효과가 있으며 동시에 피부를 부드럽게 하고 진정작용이 있습니다. 노화 피부일 수록 선호되는 경향이 있습니다.
위치헤이즐워터 - 지성피부에 있고, 수렴과 식욕 자극 혈액순환 개선, 스킨 토너 기능이 있습니다.
카모마일 워터 -민감하고 연약한 아기피부나 아토피에 효과를 가지고 있습니다.

여드름화장품 원인과 기능

여드름화장품의 목적은 예방이 주된 것이며, 현재 증상이 있다하더라도 더이상 악화시키지 않고 완화하는 부가적 기능을 가지고 있습니다. 물론 치료용과는 다르게 구별되어 있기때문에, 목적에 맞게 사용하여야 합니다.
여드름의 원인에 대하여 살펴보겠습니다.
여드름의 원인 중 사춘기에 발현되는 것으로 대부분 남성호르몬의 분비가 증가되면서 일어나게 됩니다. 남녀 모두 남성호르몬 안드로겐의 분비량이 많아지면서 피지선을 자극시키고 피지 분비를 일어나게 합니다.

다음으로는 여성호르몬입니다. 생리가 시작되기 전후로 약 1~2주 동안 주기적으로 여드름이 올라오는데 이는 여성호르몬인 프로게스트론인것으로 보고 있습니다.
약물 중에서 여드름을 유발하는 것은 부신피질 호르몬제는 스테로이드제입니다. 이는 알러지성 질환이나 피부염, 관절염 등의 각종 질환을 치료하는 약물인데 장기간 사용하게 되면 여드름, 당뇨병, 고혈압, 소화성 궤양이 부작용으로 나타나게 됩니다.
화장품이나 비누를 사용하면서 특정 성분에 대한 반응으로 여드름이 일어 날 수도 있는데 스트레스까지 받고있다면 안드로겐의 분비가 증가하여 여드름이 악화될 수 있습니다.
여드름화장품의 성분들을 보면 원인에 따라 종류와 성분들이 매우 다양하게 있습니다. 그중 주로 사용하는 것들은 다음과 같습니다.
크게 피지억제제와 각질층 박리제, 살균제 등으로 구성되어 있으며 에스트라디올, 에티널에스트라디움 등이 피지 억제제로 사용됩니다. 살리실관과 유황성분은 각질층 박리제로, 살균제는 벤조일퍼옥사이드와 염화벤잘코늄 등이 사용되고 있습니다. 그 외에는 글리칠리틴산이나 비타민 A 등이 사용되고 있습니다.

천연화장품으로는 자외선 산란제가 선호됩니다.
자외선 차단용 화장품의 성분을 살표보면 물리적으로는
산화아연, 이산화티타늄, 산화세륨 등이 있으며,
화학적 차단제로는 벤조페논, 옥틸디메틸파바. 살리실산. 파라아미노안식향산 등이 있습니다.
그런데 화학적 차단제로 사용되는 벤조페논은 피부에 대한
안전성이 좋지 않은 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
파라아미노안식향산은 흡수효과는 좋지만 마찬가지로
안전성에 문제가 있는 것으로 관련 자료에 나와있습니다.
최근에 와서는 천연물질을 이용하여 자외선 차단제를
제조하여 많이 사용되고 있는데
감마-오리자놀, 상백피추출물, 은행잎추출물, 황금추출물 등이 있습니다.
일반적으로 자외선 차단용 화장품의 레시피입니다.
폴리옥시에틸렌경화피마자유, 정제수, 클리세린, 산화아연, 에탄올, 아산화티타늄, 폴리에틸렌글리콜, 향료, 프로필렌글리콜 등이 있습니다.
